Lenka Clayton Yeah.

Have managed to get some work experience with the film maker/artist Lenka Clayton. She's recording the speech of 100 strangers over the course of one day. She's asked me to transcribe some of the recordings omitting the speech of anybody else. The transcriptions will be read out loud simultaneously at a festival in Pittsburgh this summer. I'm hoping I can make it out there to see the whole thing. This is one of her three minute wonders. I can't decide if 12, 40 or 78 is my favourite.

Planner

I fill my daily planner with loads of things, so that if I died tomorrow it would look like I had a lot planned. 

The Strangers Next Door.

I have posted 100 letters to houses and flats on my street 'Eaton Place'. I have simply asked my fellow street inhabitants to anonymously tell me something about themselves. They can lie if they like or simply tell me how they like to drink their tea. Whatever they feel like. They just have to write something on the back of the letter and post it back to me in the envelope provided. I have popped a few questions in the letter for people that feel comfortable answering them. Not sure what I will do with the replies (if I get any) just yet, but I would like to create some kind of image of the person from the snippet of information they choose to share with me. Who knows....gonna sit back and wait now. So excited.

 The film-maker, Sue Bourne interviewed the people who lived on the street that she had lived on for 14 years. It filled me with an urge to start community projects and try to get to know the people who live all around me. I suppose this project is a start. 

Movember

 It is 'Movember' and all of my friends are growing moustaches. 

Blergh. Rain. Going to meet Chloe at The Tic Toc Cafe to do journals and write 'Hello' on one hundred letters that I MUST post this evening. 

Felt Up

Me plus friends like Roz here. Have joined a Brighton craft club called 'Felt Up'. We attend on Sundays and make things. There's cake, music and tea. We haven't actually made any felt yet. We've only been one week. We made a banner for the club. I made A and Roz made B. I like clubs. 

Granny and Grandpa

It's my Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary next August and I've decided to make a big book compiled of memories, quotes, music, photos, film, illustrations and other bits and bobs all relating to my huge family. To start, I've written letters to all my Uncles and Aunties for ideas and stories etc. I'm hoping they will all reply. I'm sending the letters tomorrow. I've wax sealed them and coded them with bits of recipe books. Completely unnecessary but fun all the same.

Street Art/Graffiti Exhibition

Popped into gallery/open studios the other day and saw these. You could open up shutters on the wall to reveal rat guts and skull. I think the idea of working in such a large scale intimidates me. I like to work small THEN blow it up.

This work was in the same gallery. It was displayed in a basement so photos are dark and out of focus. But I really like it. The artist had used small fragments of wood to raise all of her characters/images from the frames. I may try this myself!

Back In Business

It was dark when I left work today. I think this Winter will be amazing.

Now living in beautiful Brighton with a job to pay for biscuits, tea and an internet connection I can finally start blogging it up big time. Sighhh of relief. From now on my blog will simply be a way of referencing the things that truly inspire me. I can come back to it whenever I need a reminder of what it is that keeps me going..... That makes me sound depressed. But I'm not. Promise.
